Trump/Barr, if still in office, would do everything in their power to see that the Khashoggi family does not get justice in US courts. bin Salmon is one of our oil masters as well as our chief war proxy (or maybe the other way around) in the middle east.

Maybe the family thinks it is less likely the crown prince would "finish the job" if they were in the US. I wouldn't feel so confidant.

It would seem to me that they should seek out a neutral country like Finland or Switzerland.
