There is nothing independent about the actual outlets. One is Russian State media. LOL
MSM, including radio, television, movies and news corporations are owned by 6 conglomerates, that also own the war machine. The independents are no part of that and are totally independent, though I'm sure if they have sponsors, they are somewhat beholdin'. Some are subscription only.
RT is independent from US entities.
