In this case the grown-ups are students who actually care about education and freedom. These students likely really read books.

North Kansas City students fight back against group that wants certain books banned (kmbc.com)

If the adults can't make adult decisions, someone has to.

High school kids are near their cognitive peak. In addition, they know about gay people, black people and sex.
And they'd eat McDonald's and other junk food all day long because they are so smart.
They drink Irish Whiskey too because they are smart.
