RE: The Cure? - j.p. - 03-19-2020 Hmmm Think I'll step up my social distancing instead. Guess the wife and kid have to leave the house. Those are the last two left. RE: The Cure? - k.d. - 03-19-2020 Well, according to this map and data, over 85,000 have recovered without the drug. https://www.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6 RE: The Cure? - j.p. - 03-20-2020 The issue right now is the spread, not recovery/survival per se. Although they are of course related. I think this should be available in mass quantities for those who want it. And I hope folks do use it. RE: The Cure? - k.d. - 03-20-2020 I certainly wouldn't stop anyone from putting whatever they want into their own body, but I am inclined to side with health writer, Bill Sardi who says that, Coronavirus isn't what's killing people- it's their weakened immune system. I think that tallies with the numbers. RE: The Cure? - j.p. - 03-20-2020 Again, it's the "spread". The use of this old medicine has a potential to slow the spread. I don't think I would take it. Age 60 was thrown out earlier as a benchmark as to when most immune system's have weaken to the extent to be concerned. RE: The Cure? - k.d. - 03-20-2020 Unfortunately, many people do not have strong immune systems (for a lot of different reasons) so yes, the spread is the concern, however, if everyone took care of themselves it wouldn't be a problem. RE: The Cure? - j.p. - 03-20-2020 My point was that weakened immune systems do not necessarily mean someone is not taking care of themselves. Aging is not preventable. And "baby boomers" are a very large segment of our society. Having said that, I know a lot of my fellow old farts who could do a better job of taking care of themselves. RE: The Cure? - k.d. - 03-20-2020 Point taken. My point is that you know aging is not preventable you need to take more preventable measures such as immune building herbs. For example, I've been taking echinacea for well over 20 years - especially during cold and flu season. RE: The Cure? - j.p. - 03-21-2020 I don't know much about echinacea, but if it works for you go for it. My wife swears by high vitamin C dosages. There are studies to confirm both claims. But I think overall attention to our own individual health is am important way to combat pandemics. |
