Time for some music - k.d. - 01-01-2020 Here are a couple of performances that I like. Hunter Elizabeth and I think the guy was on one of those American Idol shows https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yB5ITxz9CK0 A girl and her guitar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyRMD0ZXW68 Lianne La Havas A boy and his guitar playing bebop standard "Donna Lee" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4GP9yXearA Matteo Mancuso RE: Time for some music - k.d. - 01-21-2020 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMhmZDyhTZc Sant Andreu Big Band from Barcelona Spain. This is a kids group. Awesomeness. There are many, many of their videos on You Tube from small combos to the Big Band. Enjoy! RE: Time for some music - k.d. - 01-31-2020 This chic blows my mind. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsL9UL9qbv8 BTW, that's Duane Allman playing guitar. Country music is ‘dead’: Icon Loretta Lynn trashes modern hits https://www.kentucky.com/news/nation-world/national/article239834973.html I agree that Country Music Radio sucks, but let's be thankful for young guys like Mo Pitney: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUD73xc0OUE RE: Time for some music - k.d. - 04-17-2020 Zubin Mehta with Khatia Buniatishvili - Schumann: Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqXvrVX6lU4&list=RDYqXvrVX6lU4&start_radio=1 RE: Time for some music - k.d. - 04-28-2020 A song for the times: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6c6eUeoa9Q RE: Time for some music - k.d. - 09-14-2020 When I listen to Oldies Radio Stations I almost never hear songs by these guys. When I was a kid they were Huge and Bigly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHtNFaa2ne0 Saturdays at 6:00 p.m. it was time for this show. I almost never missed it when I went from being in Rock bands to Country Music. Here's Roy Clark with solos by the great Leon Rhodes and Curly Chalker. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AP7zAyqF8wE RE: Time for some music - k.d. - 10-04-2020 Maybe I'm just getting older but I am truly amazed by some of the super-talented kids performing on You Tube today. Here are two: Emily Linge, 12 years-old: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzrcfeuvVEY And here's Sina on drums. I think she started playing about age 10 and is 17 now. (watch that hi-hat) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzrcfeuvVEY RE: Time for some music - k.d. - 10-14-2020 This 9 year-old kid was just brought to my attention in an email titled Bass Face. Besides being unbelievably talented musically at such a young age, his Bass Face is pro. LOL I guarantee you will be entertained by this performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b55DrsrY_PY&list=RDb55DrsrY_PY&index=1 RE: Time for some music - k.d. - 11-14-2020 If you are anything like me you are totally fed-up with the Covid bullshit, masks, vaccines, and lockdowns; totally fed-up with politics, elections and tyranny of governments and want to get your mind off of all the depressing crap in the world. Maybe these couple of numbers will put a smile on your face, reduce some stress and anxiety, and brighten and lighten that gloomy mood. Hang in there, the world is a wonderous place. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhEIo145E6I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPUmE-tne5U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIgZ7gMze7A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwYN7mTi6HM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=129kuDCQtHs&list=RDCLAK5uy_lf8okgl2ygD075nhnJVjlfhwp8NsUgEbs&start_radio=1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfNWfnzUl4U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xmckWVPRaI RE: Time for some music - k.d. - 06-02-2021 We need more music and love in the world. Anyway, here are three selections. I recently discovered this while looking for some Bob Babbitt videos. Joan Osborne with the Funk Bros. This is a Motown thing I'll definitely be revisiting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pv8LnZpkrY As an aside, I know nothing about Joan Osborne, but she is a doppelganger for my wife's niece. I love older country music from a certain time period. A lot of the times it wasn't necessarily the vocals but the songs and the story. When I was much younger and a rock dude I thought Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn sucked. Man, they could tell a heart-felt story. But, I never dismissed this singer. Ray Price. Here's a live performance of the great Willie Nelson composition, "Night Life". An extra bonus is the world's greatest pedal steel guitar player, Buddy Emmons, knocking it out of the park with his fills. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21TI7vlOdh4 Oh, what to hell, here's Buddy at the same concert taking the spotlight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BtaQq4ZhaU As a former professional guitar player, I love guitar. Never in my dreams did I ever believe I would hear anyone like Pasquale Grasso. This is him playing solo with no overdubs or accompaniment. The song is "All the Things You Are". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmmlFWWXDpE I hope you enjoy these as much as I do. |
