The framers phucked this up - Royally. - j.p. - 01-28-2020 Impeachment law(s). Partisans being impartial ! What the hell were they think of ? To call this a "trial" is an indignity to the English language. RE: The framers phucked this up - Royally. - k.d. - 01-28-2020 Two things: 1.) Republicans have quoted Alexander Hamilton a hundred times about his warning that this would happen 2.)The Seventeenth Amendment (Amendment XVII) to the United States Constitution established the popular election of United States senators by the people of the states. The amendment supersedes Article I, §3, Clauses 1 and 2 of the Constitution, under which senators were elected by state legislatures. It wasn't the Founding Fathers who screwed up - it is our bought and paid for politicians. RE: The framers phucked this up - Royally. - j.p. - 01-28-2020 The Founders had to know knew that legislators were scoundrels by nature. They took great care in other judicial matters. Somehow they didn't view improprieties in elected officials as seriously. And if some of these improprieties reached the level of "High crimes and misdemeaners" they didn't create a system for justice. I'm not saying Trump is guilty or innocent of anything. We'll just never know. RE: The framers phucked this up - Royally. - j.p. - 01-28-2020 I don't see justice, or any chance of it. RE: The framers phucked this up - Royally. - k.d. - 01-28-2020 What would be a just punishment in your world? RE: The framers phucked this up - Royally. - j.p. - 01-28-2020 My issue is with the process. Trump could get away with murder (figuratively speaking) using the current process. On the flip side he could be removed from office for picking his nose (figuratively speaking) if the Dems controlled the Senate. RE: The framers phucked this up - Royally. - k.d. - 01-28-2020 That's because Democrats are perverted Partisan pukes and not the process. That was my point exactly. How did you miss that ?
