The conspiracy theory — that the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol was a false flag event orchestrated by the FBI — traveled the way so many conspiracy theories do in America: from a fringe far-right site run by a white nationalist to this country’s most-watched cable news show.

“Strangely, some of the key people who participated on Jan. 6 have not been charged,” Fox News host Tucker Carlson told millions of viewers on Tuesday. “Look at the documents. The government calls those people ‘unindicted co-conspirators.’ What does that mean? Well, it means that in potentially every single case, they were FBI operatives.”

No doubt the FBI are sneaky bastards, it's their job to be covert. The FBI also makes a great tool for the crazy commentators like Carlson to make a few extra bucks dreaming up fantasies for his eager army. He can shout his angry nonsense with total impunity.

The FBI generally does not confirm or deny anything. In addition they don't sue. Carlson et al can't go wrong using them for his fables.

There was not a single documented fact presented in that Carlson segment. It's pure gold.

Funny that Greenwald said that there was "ample evidence" but couldn't provide any. That a is classic example of what makes a truther a truther. Its sad how Greenwald has devolved over the years.

The original report, published by Revolver News and then amplified by Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, documented ample evidence of FBI infiltration of the three key groups at the center of the 1/6 investigation — the Oath Keepers, the Proud Boys, and the Three Percenters — and noted how many alleged riot leaders from these groups have not yet been indicted. While low-level protesters have been aggressively charged with major felonies and held without bail, many of the alleged plot leaders have thus far been shielded from charges.
