For Supreme Court justices that passage would/should not necessarily apply.

When they don their robes their new god is the constitution, period. They can believe whatever they want. But they must put it totally aside when cases are before them.
In the case of Barrett it would totally be appropriate for senators to make her state that unconditionally. I say this because of Barrett's religious fundamentalist activism. I don't know why the GOP think she should be above this scrutinization. It would seem like a very basic thing we would expect from a justice.
